Yoga when travelling is a MUST for me – I find it so calming and really helps me get into the holiday zone. The lovely ladies from Yoga 213 – one of my fave yoga studios in Melbourne – are on the blog today sharing the best places to go for a yoga holiday in Australia… Serious wanderlust!

Whether you hit the yoga mat every day, or are a sporadic practitioner, a yoga holiday based around the practice can be a relaxing and beautiful adventure. While you can head off overseas for these adventures and land in places like Bali, Italy, Thailand, Mexico, and beyond, there are a lot of places in Australia where the yoga, relaxing, and mindfulness is just as good. You can always head off on an organised retreat, but sometimes you want to go at your own pace.

Here are some of our favourite places to holiday when yoga is key:

Byron Bay
Byron Bay is the spiritual home of Australia, some might say. The energy there is something special, as is the yoga, meditation, and mindfulness. The yoga studios, including our friends over at Creature Yoga, offer beautiful classes throughout the year when you want to be guided through a class. You can also just wander on down to the beach and practice at the club overlooking the water. Byron is home to beautiful beaches and stunning walks that are perfect for getting out of your own head and into your body and surroundings. Walk up to the lighthouse and see the town from great heights. Healthy eats are plentiful here. From smoothie and raw food venues like Naked Treaties, to wholefood havens like Folk, you won’t go hungry.

Blue Mountains
The Blue Mountains are seriously stunning. The rugged mountain region is also filled with eucalyptus forests, waterfalls, and little water holes. It’s a beautiful place to leave the beaten track, grab some camping gear, and say goodbye to the hustle and bustle. It’s also a beautiful place in the world to explore your yoga practice. There is a lot on offer here. There is Iyengar found at Blue Mountains Iyengar Studio and Springwood Yoga studio, you’ll find Kundalini Yoga at Kundalini Yoga and Meditation Wentworth Falls, plus a range of classes for all levels at Glenbrook Yoga Space. And of course, everything in between.

Daylesford
Daylesford is a beautiful haven of relaxation less than two hours outside the city here in Melbourne. Known for its day spas, that’s a good place to start. From places like Lake House, The Mineral Spa, and Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa, you are very spoilt for choice.
When it comes to yoga, you can do your own thing looking over the bush lands of Victoria, or head into town for one of the beautiful studios found there. If you’re looking for a class, head to one of the studios in town like Le Yoga Daylesford or Daylesford Heart of Yoga.

Melbourne
Melbourne is bursting at the seams with yoga studios and healthy eating. Whether you’re looking for a power flow, bikram, yin, hip-hop yoga, or literally everything in between, Melbourne has it. It’s the perfect urban retreat for yoga enthusiasts. Plus there are countless walks, hikes, and beaches within hours of the city. You can jump in the car post class and be at the beach within the hour. When it comes to healthy post-yoga eats, Melbourne is one of the best places to be. From smoothies and juices at places like Green Cup and Greene Street Juices, to hearty wholesome eats at places like Feast of Merit and Patch café, you’ll never be left without fuel after class.
